Adventures of Mana (iOS/Android, PS Vita, 2016)

Time for the third and final version of the original Seiken Densetsu. We've covered Final Fantasy Adventure, we've trudged through Sword of Mana. How will this game fare in comparison? So far, it seems like a much more faithful re-creation of the original Game Boy game than Sword was. Kinda like how the 1982 version of The Thing is far more faithful to the original 1930's short story than the 1953 The Thing From Another World was, making it more of a remake of the story than a remake of the 1953 movie. Yeah, it's like that. Let's get this faithful reimagining of Final Fantasy Adventure on the road.

Sword of Mana, Finale - Evoke

We're in the endgame now! Tune in as I climb Dime Tower, most likely with my AI ally kaput the entire time due to their propensity to stand around getting hit even though a stiff breeze takes them out.

Sword of Mana, Part 6 - Lorimar

With the world in crisis and Julius looming large, is there any hope for the world of mana? And what's the deal with Cibba's head?

Sword of Mana, Part 3 - Dark Hour

Today's episode is massive, as I make substantial progress. Here I take on Count Lee, slay the two-headed dragon, visit Wendel, and... get kidnapped.

Mighty Final Fight (NES, 1993)

This great little game is a spinoff of the Final Fight series, made exclusively for the NES well past the system's prime. It features chibi versions of the characters, a relatively lighthearted plot, and easier gameplay. I expected it to be a bit of a joke game and it ended up being a fun time. Only from Capcom!

Sword of Mana, Part 2 - Overnight Guest

Forget Neko the merchant cat. Now we've got Niccolo, a rabbit with a sombrero.

In this episode, I continue on a bit, then do the second intro (this time for the Boy), then continue on again.

Sword of Mana (Game Boy Advance, 2003)

This is a full-on remake of Final Fantasy Adventure that makes it waaaaaay more Mana-y. For a more faithful-to-the-original remaster, check out Adventure of Mana for Vita and iOS/Android. I'll be doing that soon too.

This game changes a lot about the source material, adding new characters/story and even areas. Let's get into it.

Final Fantasy Adventure, Part 3 - Serial Experiment Kain

Today on The Walking Dead: We learn that Amanda was bitten during the fight with Medusa. Of course, being bitten by Medusa means you turn to a monster.

In the Sword of Mana remake, Amanda survives (much like the other casualties so far) and is actually the male main character's love interest later on. I mean she has a huge role in that game, so I'm surprised to see her die like this.

Final Fantasy Adventure, Part 2 - Thursday Night Dynamite

That's right, we're back already with more FFA. Wendel here is a very notable town in Seiken Densetsu 3, though I don't think it makes an appearance in Secret of Mana. Either way, fresh off of our win over the vampire, it's a place to get some rest.

Final Fantasy Adventure (Game Boy, 1991)

One of my favorite Game Boy games. It's probably in the top five. It isn't really a Final Fantasy game; everyone knows by now, but it's actually the original Seiken Densetsu. The predecessor to Secret of Mana. Whoa.

COMING SOON ON SWITCH. Get it! DOO IT NAO!

Nintendo Power Review #18 - Volume 30

In this video: Final Fantasy II, very early SNES coverage, Game Boy Battletoads and its insane maps, and I no-sell Flintstones for the NES.

Final Fantasy Uberboss Rundown (Now with XIII and XV)

Final Fantasy is a series that has uberbosses in abundance. What's an uberboss? Not a German boss, but good guess. Anything that falls into the postgame and is (usually) more difficult than the actual final boss of the game is an "uberboss". In recent years more people have started referring to them as "superbosses", likely in an attempt to sound less German. The Final Fantasy series, in addition to brimming with androgynous girlboys, sports many of these uber/super bosses. In Final Fantasy, "beating the game" often means you're just getting started because there's usually a huge postgame where the real challenges are.

Mortal Kombat 11 (All Systems, 2019)

I mean, it's on lots of systems, PS4 is the one I'm playing on. Alternate dimensions and meeting your past self are all the rage in our entertainment these days, and this game is no exception. Considering it came out the same week as Avengers: Endgame, it shares a lot of koncepts with that movie.

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu, Finale - Ask Your Doctor About PP Max

Time for some postgame as we conclude the remake of the year. ...from last year. Man, this took a while to get back to.

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu, Part 7 - The Elite

Actually, yes.

Today on Pokémon: According to reports, all of my Pokémon quit and are headed to AEW.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past #6 - Misery Mire, Ice Palace

You're reading the title right: I did Dungeon 6 before Dungeon 5. This is to have the Cane of Somaria for some of Dungeon 5's more tedious puzzles. Time to wrap up this game.

Highlander: The Series 3x06 - Courage

This is the best episode so far in S3. I mean, somebody got to write this episode and knocked it out of the damn park.

Mega Man X4/X5 Playthroughs

To go along with my X1-X3 playthroughs. X4 and X5 are both fully uploaded. And that's it, because the post-X5 games are kinda ugh. At least for now.

Highlander: The Series 3x04 - The Cross of St. Antoine

Today on Highlandah: Joe's Bar, Amanda returns, the guy from Blade Runner gets psycho, and other stuff happens. It isn't really a good standalone episode, but it's very eventful from an "overarching events" perspective and sets up the rest of the season nicely.

Highlander: The Series 3x03 - The Revolutionary

Today on Highlander: It's Charlie's last episode for a while, as we deal with something that would be relevant today...or any decade: Armed Insurrections. It'll be a blast!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Cheat Run (1st Half)

"Who is that woman who called you five minutes ago?"

Using cheats to speed through San Andreas might hide my poor GTA skills, but it can't hide CJ's cheating heart.

Wild Arms 3, Finale - Radio Berlin

This is a cool game and a worthy PS2 RPG for the time, but it'd be so much better without all of the padding and tedious segments that it throws your way. Repeating bosses, lots and lots and LOTS of dungeons that are all kinda indistinguishable from one another... for a little while playing this I was considering going onward to Wild Arms 4 afterwards, but I think I'll call it a day with this series after this game. Loved the first two games.

Wild Arms 3, Part 12 - Spirit House

Today on Wild Arms 3: I tackle the horror of game design that is The Abyss, and draw ever-closer to the final boss. We're almost there.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past #5 - Skull Woods, Gargoyle's Domain

How are you celebrating the end of the world? I'm celebrating with a spirited game of A LINK TO THE PAST. Today I'm taking out two dungeons, collecting more items, and getting the red sword. A LINK TO THE PAST: The latest from SouljaGame Console!

Highlander: The Series 3x01 - The Samurai

Highlander returns~! with the first episode I've covered in like ten years. In this, our hero travels to the Land of the Rising Sun. Given that it's been years since I watched the show, I was a little worried that it might not age that well. The good news is, there's nothing to worry about in that department because it's as watchable as ever. And this is probably the best season. Let's do this.
