A Brief Look At World of Final Fantasy

A brief look, a quick gander. This game is quite interesting as it turns out, combining characters/places from the entire Final Fantasy series and adding a dreamlike aesthetic to all of it.

Predator (NES, 1987)

Predator was one of my favorite movies from the 80's, and it's a safe bet that I would have gotten the game if I'd had an NES as a kid. Yeah, it's another T2 For Game Boy situation. So how terrible is it?

Secret of Mana Remake (Playstation 4, 2018)

Now that Secret of Mana is available in high-def on PS4, we can confirm what we've suspected all along: Primm has beautiful boobies.

Fire Emblem Heroes - Babe Appreciation Post

Now for something completely different: An appreciation of the babes of Fire Emblem Heroes. It's a free-to-play mobile game where you collect Fire Emblem characters. As is Fire Emblem tradition, it's full of glorious babes. Will this post fly in 2019? #CancelCoronaJumper

Yakuza Kiwami: Boss Fights

More boss videos, more liner notes. This time it's Yakuza Kiwami, which unfortunately can't hold a candle to Yakuza Zero's boss lineup. It's still a decent game, and pays off the story that Yakuza Zero builds up.

Yakuza Zero: Boss Fights

Yakuza Zero is a great game, and the strongest point might well be the boss fights. There are some sweet boss fights to be had here, to say the least. This post contains every boss fight video, with some liner notes.

Modern Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed Origins is really really cool ya'll. I'm a big fan of this series when they can stick to the fundamentals and avoid microtransactions / things like Facebook connectivity to Facebook Live or Facebook Just Collectin' Information or whatever. Also featured here: Assassin's Creed Odyssey. With new updates for 2019.

Secret of Mana #10 - Carousel

There's no getting into the Mana Fortress without first going to Pure Land (or Mana Holy Land, as it's called in the original Japanese). Because you can't say "holy" in an early SNES game. Before we hit Pure Land, it's time to take a look at some of the weirder places in Secret of Mana.

Highlander: The Series 3x14 - Song of the Executioner

This episode is the beginning of a five-part arc and sorta the beginning of the second half of the series. From here on out the series really hits its stride. I think at this point the creators realized they still hadn't topped Band of Brothers from Season 1, so they...made another Band of Brothers with this episode. If that S1 episode is where the series showed what it could be if it reached its potential, this episode is where the series really starts reaching said potential.

What's the one thing that could have improved Band of Brothers? If it were a multi-parter, because wrapping up that entire story in one episode felt a bit rushed. As a result, this episode begins a new multi-parter that sends Duncan to Paris and introduces a new ancient mentor character, much like Darius was supposed to be. He might be kinda cool, we'll see.

Secret of Mana #9 - The Forum of Augustus

They sure like to talk about Mavolia, the Underworld, considering it's a place you never get to see.

Super Ghouls n' Ghosts (Super NES, 1991)

It's a Corona Jumper Halloween Spooktacular! Today I look at an insanely difficult game that has caused more than a few gamers to explode over the years. It's from Capcom circa 1991, though, so you know it's awesome.

Ghouls n' Ghosts (Sega Genesis, 1988)

Time for the mid-quell of the series. Somehow this one gets forgotten a lot in-between the NES' Ghosts n' Goblins and the Super NES' Super Ghouls and Ghosts. Probably a lot like this post, which I'm sandwiching between them in close-proximity.

Ghosts n' Goblins (NES, 1986)

Oh God, why? Why? For a game that's only about 20 minutes long straight through, this is the most difficult game I've ever played.

Link's Awakening Remake - Boss Fights

Just finished the Link's Awakening remake and it was hawt. Here are all the boss videos I recorded.

Secret of Mana #6 - Funhouse Mirror

Funhouse mirrors are known to be distorted reflections of what something is supposed to look like. Which is sorta what we've got with this game, at the end of the day.

Highlander: The Series 3x11 - Vendetta

A fairly average episode and an uncharacteristic dip in S3's momentum, even if the cover-lady has beautiful lips. Keep in mind that Anne is on the cover of like NO EPISODES.

Honestly, I feel like Anne would only make it onto one if she died in that episode. Which I don't think ever happens, but my point stands.

Today on The History Channel: We hear Luka's theory of how ancient civilizations nuked themselves into oblivion.

Secret of Mana (Super NES, 1993)

Been wanting to get to this one for a long time. It's one of those rare SNES games that could make a huge impression on the people that played it. It's one of my favorite games of all time, it means an awful lot to me, and it has subtle connections to a lot of other classic Squaresoft games from the era. And the crazy thing is...in some alternate dimensions, there's an even better version of it for the Nintendo PlayStation CD add-on.

Adventures of Mana, Finale - The Last Vestiges

Today on the Adventures of Mana finale: I battle dragons, collect weapons, and slay Julius yet again.

Adventures of Mana, Part 4 - All Out

Today on Seiken Densetsu 1 Version 3 HD, our heroes battle Dark Lord. Also, other stuff happens. This is a pretty sweet game, and we're almost to Secret of Mana.

Highlander: The Series 3x10 - Blackmail

This episode is really good, better than expectations based off the Season One-ish title. It features possibly the best swordfight in the series up to this point. The villain, seen here, is played by Anthony DeLongis, the sword trainer for the show and a legit master swordfighter. He's the one who teaches guest stars what they're doing. He's also so charismatic that they made him the villain in not one, but two episodes. The other is way later and he's a different character, but still.

Adventures of Mana (iOS/Android, PS Vita, 2016)

Time for the third and final version of the original Seiken Densetsu. We've covered Final Fantasy Adventure, we've trudged through Sword of Mana. How will this game fare in comparison? So far, it seems like a much more faithful re-creation of the original Game Boy game than Sword was. Kinda like how the 1982 version of The Thing is far more faithful to the original 1930's short story than the 1953 The Thing From Another World was, making it more of a remake of the story than a remake of the 1953 movie. Yeah, it's like that. Let's get this faithful reimagining of Final Fantasy Adventure on the road.

Sword of Mana, Finale - Evoke

We're in the endgame now! Tune in as I climb Dime Tower, most likely with my AI ally kaput the entire time due to their propensity to stand around getting hit even though a stiff breeze takes them out.

Sword of Mana, Part 6 - Lorimar

With the world in crisis and Julius looming large, is there any hope for the world of mana? And what's the deal with Cibba's head?

Sword of Mana, Part 3 - Dark Hour

Today's episode is massive, as I make substantial progress. Here I take on Count Lee, slay the two-headed dragon, visit Wendel, and... get kidnapped.

Sword of Mana, Part 2 - Overnight Guest

Forget Neko the merchant cat. Now we've got Niccolo, a rabbit with a sombrero.

In this episode, I continue on a bit, then do the second intro (this time for the Boy), then continue on again.

Sword of Mana (Game Boy Advance, 2003)

This is a full-on remake of Final Fantasy Adventure that makes it waaaaaay more Mana-y. For a more faithful-to-the-original remaster, check out Adventure of Mana for Vita and iOS/Android. I'll be doing that soon too.

This game changes a lot about the source material, adding new characters/story and even areas. Let's get into it.

Final Fantasy Adventure, Part 3 - Serial Experiment Kain

Today on The Walking Dead: We learn that Amanda was bitten during the fight with Medusa. Of course, being bitten by Medusa means you turn to a monster.

In the Sword of Mana remake, Amanda survives (much like the other casualties so far) and is actually the male main character's love interest later on. I mean she has a huge role in that game, so I'm surprised to see her die like this.

Final Fantasy Adventure, Part 2 - Thursday Night Dynamite

That's right, we're back already with more FFA. Wendel here is a very notable town in Seiken Densetsu 3, though I don't think it makes an appearance in Secret of Mana. Either way, fresh off of our win over the vampire, it's a place to get some rest.

Final Fantasy Adventure (Game Boy, 1991)

One of my favorite Game Boy games. It's probably in the top five. It isn't really a Final Fantasy game; everyone knows by now, but it's actually the original Seiken Densetsu. The predecessor to Secret of Mana. Whoa.

COMING SOON ON SWITCH. Get it! DOO IT NAO!

Nintendo Power Review #18 - Volume 30

In this video: Final Fantasy II, very early SNES coverage, Game Boy Battletoads and its insane maps, and I no-sell Flintstones for the NES.
