Hopefully this movie has more reason to exist than the first one did. While the first one ran alongside (and retold) the beginning of the show, this one runs alongside the arc where Gokou and Kuririn start training with Master Roshi. It's sort of a retelling but also takes things off in a different direction. I don't understand these retellings. At least by DBZ they'd start getting it right by having the movies tell completely different stories alongside certain eras of the show, without stressing over the continuity of it all. That still has issues, but at least it isn't redundant.

Predator (NES, 1987)

Predator was one of my favorite movies from the 80's, and it's a safe bet that I would have gotten the game if I'd had an NES as a kid. Yeah, it's another T2 For Game Boy situation. So how terrible is it?

Mega Man (NES, 1987)

It's the first of Mayyyyy! First of Mayyy! And the Mega Man starts today. I'm celebrating this month with Mega Mania, a parade of Mega Man posts both new and old.

This, right here, is the game that started it all. I was going to play this during The Three Decade Project, but it ended up being pushed aside for the first Zelda game instead. I decided to revisit this post due to the historical significance that this game has going for it. 1987 must have been a magical time for gamers, because things like this were just coming into being for the first time. Also, we were a full eight or nine years away from internet message boards ruining our enjoyment of everything.

Castlevania (NES, 1987)

Time to take a look at the original Castlevania. Originally posted this in 2010, but I'm presenting a remastered version here.

For anyone unfamiliar with Castlevania, it's a series where you play as various vampire hunters (such as Richter, and Simon) and battle Dracula and his minions. This series has garnered a hell of a lot of acclaim over the years, and the original - this one right heeah - is where it all began. This is Simon's quest (heh) to conquer Dracula, the terror of the night. It's an NES game from 1987, so it will be an arduous battle. Let's do this.

Zanac (NES, 1987)

Space shooter week begins with one of the great early shooters from Compile. This game is legendary...and incredibly difficult. Ask your doctor if Zanac is right for you! (Protip: It probably isn't)

Adventure Island (NES, 1987)

I hate this game so, so much.

Dragon Warrior II (NES, 1990)

 This time... there are more than one of them. This game should have been called Dragon Warriors. You know, like Aliens.

The Legend of Zelda (NES, 1987)

The 1987 game is a big one. The genesis of the Zelda series. ...wait, what? The title screen says 1986, you say? I'll explain that in a moment. In any case, this game is the beginning of an era, and captured the imaginations of countless kids. It all started here.
