Dragonball Z Kakarot Part 20 - -DAIMA- Adventure Through The Demon Realm PART 2 - Second Half

This is it, the culmination of Daima. The big final battle. Akira Toriyama's final gift to the world. Featuring his own version of Super Saiyan 4. That's right, it's finally canon in the DBZ to Super timeline.

Our heroes head for Tamagami 1, only to find that... someone already got that Dragonball! So it's a Mexican Standoff, with the good guys having 2 'Balls and the...lesser evil guys having 1 'Ball.

Majin Duu is ready for battle. Looks like we're facing him instead of the Tamagami. He's basically Majin Buu II.

At least, the stage is set for a big Gokou vs Majin Duu showdown, when...

...Giga Gomah appears. He wants all three 'Balls. But first, he wants to squash our heroes once and for all.

Dr. Arinsu recognizes what's going on here. He's got the Third Eye, which means...even her two Majins won't be able to do much good against him.

Dabura/Gomah's father, the old Demon King, created the Third Eye to give himself mega power over the Demon Realm. He probably used it to take over the Demon Realm to begin with. And then he never passed it down to his sons, I guess. He lost it and it ended up being worn as a belt buckle by that oddball Hybis. What a sus individual.

Vegeta swings into action! Gomah easily repels his attack. Matter of fact, he easily repels everyone's attacks!

We should send Hybis. #SendHybis

It's actually an eight-on-one battle, which you pretty much NEVER see in Dragonball, and actually feels like the heroes are taking things seriously. Joining the fight are Gokou, Vegeta, Glorio, Majin Kuu, Majin Duu, Tamagami #1, Kaiohshin, and Piccolo. Yeah, even Tamagami #1 is helping out, since he was nearby and hasn't gotten to do much in this story. This is also the one time Piccolo gets to do much.

Gokou unleashes SSJ3!

We get a big clash between Gokou and Gomah, then Vegeta and Gomah, with other characters as summonable assists. The good news is that the fight is divided up into so many smaller fights that you don't really ever need to heal up. Also Gomah's levels are bizarrely low. This has to be the easiest DLC out of all of them.

After beating Gomah up a couple times, Gomah owns our heroes in the cutscenes. Gokou limps around on the ground, running out of hope, when...

...Neva heals his injuries with some sort of Namek magic, and it causes Gokou to Zenkai Boost beyond SSJ3 into SSJ4! ...how? Whatever, don't ask questions.

SSJ4 Gokou in all his glory. Why does he have a tail again? Who knows! At least in Dragonball GT they explained all of this stuff. I think I prefer this design overall; GT had the black hair and eyeshadow which looked cool enough, but also kinda made it look like a downgrade to a more "normal" form. This version has red hair, like SSJ4 Gogeta did in GT; this makes it look more powerful AND makes it look like a stepping stone en route to Super Saiyan God.

SSJ4 Gokou blocks Gomah's giant death fireball! The tide has turned!

We get another fight. SSJ4 Kid Gokou is only available for this one battle, and he's a lightning-quick little bugger.

Gomah still wins in the cutscene afterwards, of course. WHY SO SERIOUS, he asks.

Well, that's it. SSJ4 Gokou couldn't get it done. Nobody really notices or mentions that he went SSJ4 just then and it seems to be immediately forgotten.

Daima is weird.

With our heroes beaten (...in the cutscenes anyway), there's only one option left. The Dragonballs. Glorio tricks Dr. Arinsu into giving him the last 'Ball so he can wish for her to be all-powerful so she can stop Gomah. Of course, Glorio is really going to use it to help the good guys.

Demon Realm Porunga appears!

DON'T DO IT, GLORIO! Imagine a world where Dr, Arinsu is all-powerful, where we all serve under her stilettoed boot. Where everyone exists only to meet her every need, whim, and fetish. Where we must all collectively kiss her feet, suck her toes, and pleasure her all hours of the...

....sorry, I blanked out for a minute.

Glorio speaks to Porunga in Namekian (you know, since Piccolo FORGOT NAMEKIAN) and...

...our heroes get their adult bodies back! Hoo rah!

Dr. Arinsu is OUTRAGED. NOW how will she get anyone to suck her toes and pleasure her? She'll have to rely only on her sexy physique and heaving breasts to get servitude. As if anyone wants to serve that!

Gokou gets Glorio's name right for the first time in the entire Daima story, which is a touching moment.

You did good, Glorio.

Now that our heroes are back to full power, they can thrash Gomah!

...except they immediately decide to be fucking idiots again and go back to fighting one at a time. It would only be fair!

Vegeta is up first! Somebody has to job!

Giga Gomah actually shows more sense than anyone else here, pointing out that our heroes would be better off continuing to fight en masse instead of one at a time.

Super Saiyan 3 Adult Vegeta...still has fairly short hair for SSJ3, and it looks almost more like SSJ2 Gohan's hair. Not sure why it isn't longer.

We get another fun battle where SSJ3 Vegeta gets to thrash Gomah around. Meanwhile Gomah fires back with waves of purple fireballs. These fights should be savored because you only get to play as these characters once, really. I'd suggest doing a backup save before all of the Gomah fights, and another one right before this fight.

You can't take these powerups back to the main game (would be awesome to be able to bring them to  the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F DLCs, where your characters are pretty underpowered compared to Beerus and Freeza respectively)

Vegeta and Gomah have a giant beam tug of war!

No matter how much damage they do to Gomah, he seems to keep regenerating after every fight. Vegeta managed to really do a number on him, but he just got his HP back afterwards.

Dr. Arinsu reveals that the only way to beat Gomah is to hit him 3x in the back of the head and knock the Third Eye loose. It has to be 3x in succession, and hard. She knows this from reading old Demon Realm books of sorcery.

Gokou and Piccolo hatch a plan to get this done. Gokou fights, Piccolo hits him in the back of the head. Now they just need Vegeta to stop hogging the fight. Vegeta is having too much fun though.

Bulma finally puts her foot down, and tells Vegeta that...

...if he doesn't stop this, she'll never take another bath with him.

Vegeta roars back down to the ground. No more fighting for him.

Next, Gokou gets to fight, and starts by repeating that one scene from the Buu Saga for some reason:

And this...is to go...beyond beyond!

He goes SSJ4 and everyone goes into shock, especially Vegeta, which makes no sense because he just did this as a kid a few minutes ago. Kid SSJ4 was so ineffective that it might as well have not even happened, it had no bearing on the story and it made the shock of the other characters in this last part not make sense. Instead the kid should have topped out at SSJ3 and had a healing bug (remember those? Daima doesn't) to explain his last surge in it. Then here he could say he got enough of a boost from that fight to go beyond.

Would have also liked if they explained the tail. In DBGT it's explained by the form being a sort of "contained super oozaru" form, like you go Super Oozaru and then contain that down into your normal physical form, giving you ape characteristics plus the Oozaru multiplier on top of your normal power (meaning that it, in theory, is 10x stronger than SSJ3). Here on the other hand, I have no idea why there's a tail and so forth.

Next up is the big final battle with Gomah, for all the marbles. SSJ4 Gokou has some sweet new attacks. For some reason Gomah is only level 107, so this fight isn't exactly any sort of problem. He should have been at least 125. I didn't even do any sidequests and I'm 114 just from story fights.

Gokou dishes out the ULTRA KAMEHAMEHA!

Gomah fires back with this beam flurry. It's dodgable (stay out of the red zones), but Gokou can just tank his attacks too.

A secret weapon of mine in this last fight was the Dragon Fist, the move Gokou used to win Movie 13. It's a devastating melee attack with a massive gold aura, and it's enough to put even Giga Gomah on the back foot.

This is it for Gomah.

We then get the best Kamehameha in the entire Dragonball series (no, I'm not kidding)

As Gokou and Gomah have a huge beam tug-of-war.

In the show, this is seriously the best of these that we ever get, surpassing even Gohan and Cell's. The Kamehameha itself is the biggest and nicest one that any Dragonball show has ever done, and Daima is worth seeing just for it, and the rest of, this final battle.

SHIIIIIING!

Piccolo misses his attack, so Majin Kuu (the small one) of all people manages to get in there and smack him 3x in the back of the head while he's stunned, causing the Third Eye to pop out (and promptly get smushed by Glorio). Gomah shrinks back to his small size and gets arrested.

Gomah is defeated, and the Third Eye is destroyed, so our heroes can go home and start the next storyline, Battle of Gods. SSJ4 would never be seen again for some unknown reason, and Vegeta will forget how to SSJ3.

Since Majin Kuu struck the final hit against Gomah, technically he is the new Demon King. Really wish these guys would have gotten a different color scheme from Puke Green.

...wait, then Gokou should have been the Demon King all this time since he defeated Majin Buu, who defeated Dabura. I guess it defaulted to lineage since he wasn't around.

Majin Kuu chooses Arinsu to be his second in command - and the one actually running everything because Majin Kuu doesn't really know what's going on - so she gets to have all the power over the Demon Realm after all!

I think Majin Kuu might have also just picked her to be his queen, even though she spawned him in a cauldron or something. This is getting weird.

Majin Kuu tries to recruit our heroes to be senators in the new republic version of the underworld. No go, though. Well, he has enough good minions down here, and most importantly, the tyranny of Gomah enslaving everyone down here is over.

Majin Kuu needs one more subject! Hybis raises his hand!

Majin Kuu realizes he has plenty of subjects, actually. False alarm, everyone!

Hybis then stands there and does what he does best, look on creepily. Wonder how long until he becomes a serial killer.

Later...our heroes are in a shop, and find...

...more Third Eyes just laying around. Nobody buys them because nobody knows how to use them. Yeah, they need to make sure all of these things get destroyed. Wait a minute...maybe this bizarre storyline could be used to make Tien uber-powerful out of nowhere? Turns out he had a Demon Realm Third Eye all along, it just had to be...activated or something!

It all begs the question of why Gomah and his top goons didn't all go out of their way to collect Third Eyes, all make themselves giga-beings, and take out the Tamagamis. They could have had all the power and wishes they wanted. Why are Third Eyes just randomly rolling around anyway? Unless these are regular eyeballs, which judging from the character reactions, maybe that's what they are.

That's it for Daima. Everyone takes off, with this bizarre excursion over. Looking forward to seeing SSJ4 Gokou, SSJ3 Vegeta, and the newly-reacquired Power Pole all show up in DB Super Beerus! ........

So, thoughts on Daima, the show? I recommend watching the last four episodes of it, those last four are really good. Especially the final Kamehameha. If those four episodes were taken on their own, they'd be one of the best Dragonball movies. I thought the action in those episodes are nearly on par with the 2017 Broly movie (still the high watermark of Dragonball fights, IMO).

Thoughts on this DLC? It's surprisingly in-depth and more than decent/worth playing. Might be the best of the standalone DLCs, finally toppling History of Trunks. It's too bad that the new powers here can't be taken back into the main game. They'd be a huge help against Beerus and Golden Freeza, effectively the postgame superbosses of Kakarot. And since this takes place before those fights, you really should be able to take the powers back. Oh well. At least you get an even better form for the latter fight.

Yeah, SSBlue is better than SSJ4, that's finally definitively answered now. I wish they would have explained in some way why SSJ4 won't be seen after this, though. The show didn't bother either. They could have just added one line about how it burns through power way too fast to be practical, and a more stable Super Saiyan new level needs to be found.

Kakarot has had such a ridiculous amount of content added to it at this point. I think they're finally done, but who knows Highlanda...who knows.

Editor's Postnote: Here's a video I just scrounged up for the final boss fight in all its glory, specifically SSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ4 Gokou's fights with him, so I'm throwing this in.
