Seiken Densetsu 3, Finale - Vicious Spiral Dive
This is it, the culmination of Seiken Densetsu 3. Seen here in the alternate universe where it got a western release in 1995 or 1996.

Seiken Densetsu 3, Part 7 - High Tension Wire
Today on Seiken Densetsu 3: I slay God-Beasts. Lots of them, beginning with the Son of Sun in the land of fire.

Final Fantasy VII Remake, Part 4 - Neon Genesis
In this episode, we tool around in the slums. "AUGH" scream the flowers underfoot as Aerith clops over them with her work boots. I mean, she says she can understand the voices of all living things and the planet itself, so she should know this.

Doomsday Warrior (Super NES, 1992)
Today I'm looking at a particularly strange fighting game for the Super NES. It's going to be painful. This attempt at a hybrid of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat may not have been fun to play, but it's ripe for a look. It's a port of the aptly-named Taiketsu!! Brass Numbers for the Super Famicom.

Seiken Densetsu 3, Part 6 - Primeval
Arriving in Mintos, it's time for the next leg of the journey with our decidedly leg-less party. Will I defeat any God-Beasts in this episode? Maybe!

Final Fantasy VII Remake, Part 3 - Welcome to the Terrordome
Now that more people have had time to process the game, FFVII RETURNS. What shocking new developments await?

Doom Eternal - Boss Fights
This, like old-school Doom games, has very few boss fights. The few it has are definitely a case of quality over quantity, though.

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Super NES/Sega CD, 1994) - UPDATED
This is a game that I was a huge fan of as a kid. It's fantastic and very unique, with a certain Indiana Jones kind of mood that very few games successfully convey. While I played the SNES version then and am playing it now, it's worth noting that in 1995 it also got released on the Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Atari Jaguar, and Windows 95. In fact, it was the first commercial game release for Win 95. The later versions of the game considerably improved upon the SNES version, with better graphics, better sound, and more levels. I didn't know about this until very recently, because back then I didn't have a Nintendo Power to tell me about games on other systems.
NOTE: While this is a re-post, I've added new images from the Sega CD version from areas that were cut from the cartridge-based versions of the game. Any new text, mainly pertaining to the Sega CD, will be in yellow.

Seiken Densetsu 3, Part 5 - Sail Away
Took a detour into remake-land but we're back with the original Seiken Densetsu 3 from 1995. ...where did I leave off? Who's she?

The Thing From Another World (1951)
The Thing From Another World is loosely related to John Carpenter's 1982 thriller, The Thing. I consider the 1982 movie to be one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, as well as the most chilling movie I have ever watched. It presents a bleak vision of extraterrestrial life and a terrifying existential threat to the human race. As a result, I had to check out the predecessor to that movie.
While the Carpenter version is effectively a remake of this, his version follows a distinctly different plotline that is much truer to the source material. The source material in question is a 1938 short story called "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr. Still with me here? Good. So what did I think of this movie? Read on to find out.
Can it compare to the Carpenter version from three decades later? Is there too much talking? Were dames sassy in 1951? The answers to all three questions may surprise you.

Trials of Mana (Playstation 4, Switch, 2020)
THIS IS IT. Remake time. Loooong awaited, this one, and a notably higher-effort remake than the Secret of Mana remake. I'm running the PS4 version, but it's also on Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (Playstation 4, 2020)
First of all, it's the ten year anniversary of the site. First post was on 4/10/2010 and the first thing I covered on here was Super Mario RPG. It's absolutely nuts to realize it's been ten years since then, and the anniversary just crept up on me. What better way to celebrate it than with an FFVIIR post. I'll keep the spoilers light for this. There's a lot of bad stuff goin' on in the world and I'm putting more than usual out there in an effort to help in some small way. Stay safe, and I'll talk to you again soon.

Total Recall and Final Fantasy VII Similarities
I watched the original Total Recall on Netflix, and wow. It's totally Final Fantasy VII. I hadn't seen the movie in a loooong time, so I wasn't aware of this. Doing a quick google search doesn't turn up any comparisons that I can link, so I guess this is one of those things that is either all in my head or I'm the only one who noticed it somehow. More after the jump.
