The first Dragonball Z RPG is INSANELY BAD. I can't even begin to express just how bad this game is. I think it got a DS remake that was highly-acclaimed, but this game is just.... ehhhhhhh. I mean, yikes. Roughly translated, it's called Assault of the Saiyans.

Dragonball Z: Hyper Dimension (Super Famicom, 1996)
The best of the side-scrolling 90's DBZ games is, without a doubt, this one. The Super NES in 1996 was a vastly different system than it was in 1991. I don't know if any other system had graphics improve so much over its lifespan.

Dragonball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 (Playstation, 1995)
The next game doesn't even bother having non-Gokou characters on the cover. This one is ALL GOKOU, ALL THE TIME! It's also a pretty bad game, but we'll get to that. Ultimate Battle 22 is so-named because it features 22 characters, the largest roster in a DBZ game yet. It actually has 27 characters if you punch in a code, so I don't know why they didn't just unlock those characters from the start and call it Ultimate Battle 27.

Dragonball Z: Buyu Retsuden (Sega Megadrive, 1994)
Today I'm looking at the Genesis addition to the Super Butoden series, dubbed Retsuden. This one plays largely the same, but the graphic and sound styles are quite different. It covers up through the Cell Saga.

Dragonball Z Super Butoden 3 (Super Famicom, 1994)
Time for the weakest game in the trilogy. It's kinda fitting, given that the Buu Saga itself is weaker than the rest of DBZ.

Dragonball Z Super Butoden 2 (Super Famicom, 1993)
The next game in the series is most definitely Gohan's game. He's the star here, and the whole story mode revolves around him. That said, look at Gokou back there trying to steal all of Gohan's thunder.

Dragonball Z Super Butoden (Super Famicom, 1993)
Super Butoden is a trilogy of fighting games developed by Bandai in the early 90's. They should perhaps be called Super Butt-oden, because they're butt. That said, they have great soundtracks, and the novelty of just seeing these characters in a 16-bit fighting game was amazing.

Warframe (Playstation 4, 2013)
Looking at another free-to-play PS4 game. Lots of people say this is the best game on the system so far. Given the lack of competition, it might well be.

Resogun (Playstation 4, 2013)
One of the Playstation 4's free download games, Resogun is a must-play for shooter-thusiasts. A lot of people would go so far as to say it was the best launch game for the system, and I wouldn't argue with that. This game is SO COOL, YOU GUYS.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Playstation 4, 2014)
Time to look at the most controversial demo game of 2014 so far. Is it controversial because of the incredibly dark story, depictions of torture, insinuation that the United States is often villainous, the replacement of David Hayter with Kiefer Sutherland as the primary voice actor, or the short length? The answer is all of the above.

Dragon Warrior II #2 - Harbingers
Here we go... it's time to rock Charlock. What awaits inside the ultimate dungeon of the first game? A secret uberboss? A new DragonLord? Mad loot? A beautiful, seductive woman who wants both Mal and Bran, and hopes that they think that's cool... say word?

Dragon Warrior II (NES, 1990)
This time... there are more than one of them. This game should have been called Dragon Warriors. You know, like Aliens.

Ultima: Warriors of Destiny (NES, 1991)
This is Ultima V's ill-recieved NES port. The PC version of Ultima V is debatably the best game in the series, a game that is critically acclaimed to this day. Yet this is easily the worst of the console ports, nearly to the point of unplayability.

Ultima: Exodus (NES, 1989)
To celebrate St. Paddy's Day, I'm looking at a game that has nothing to do with drinking but has a lot of the color green.
This is the third game in the Ultima series; the first to get an NES version.

Dragon Warrior (NES, 1989)
The Dragon Warrior series (Dragon Quest in Japan) is one of my favorite RPG franchises. While it lacks the fanfare of Final Fantasy, these games tend to be less linear and more about character-building than melodramatic plots.
This is a game that I've played a few times in the distant past. This time around I'm going to try something new: A Tool-Assisted Asskicking. It's like a tool-assisted speedrun, except with excessive 'sploiting of states and luck. I plowed through the whole game in one morning. And here... is the story.

Romancing SaGa III #12 - Ocean Palace
As this game grinds to a close, here's a look at the packaging. Gotta say, Super Famicom games win out over Super NES games on packaging. Too bad we didn't get this kind of artistic box-art here in the states.
