Super Metroid - No Death Run (2016 Run)
A smorgasbord of videos as I attempt to plow through the game without saving or losing. Eventually I'll try this again and make it a full-on speed run, because I know I can do better than this.

Startropics Pt 2 - Deconstruction
Part 2 begins, as the journey of the aptly-named Mike rolls on. Armed with a yo-yo and a kilo of Bolivian nasal dust, can this daring young man save the world? Find out inside.

Startropics Pt 1 - Creation
Since the NES Classic has given this game new life, it's time for me to repost Startropics. I'm fond of this quirky sci-fi adventure and I'm glad it made it onto Nintendo's collection.

Pokemon Go (iPhone/Android, 2016)
Time for a game that is bringing people together like none other. Since everyone is playing it, it presents a primo opportunity for fellas like me to strike up conversations with women while we're out and about, forging new connections and relationships; bonds that may end up enduring for the rest of our lives, and all because of a simple mobile game.
...or in my case, it just dramatically increases how often I get pepper sprayed.

Star Fox Zero (Wii U, 2016)
Herein lies an (almost) full playthrough of Star Fox Zero in video form. This game...was not good. I had a few friends over and they all tapped out on it. Eventually I beat the game, even though the final boss was astronomically more difficult than the rest of the game for some reason. I was looking forward to this one, but it ended up being a big disappointment.

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U, 2014)
Finally I look at the latest game in this series. It's the most fun thing on the Wii U. Just a total blast. Shigeru Miyamoto has really outdone himself this time.

Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64, 1997)
Time for one of the best games of all time and one that I took waaaay too long to play. The Super NES Super Mario Kart was the last game in this series that I really spent any time with (aside from some unimpressive runs at Double Dash and this game for a few minutes at a time over the years), so this one is pretty new to me. And it's such a cool game that I'll be posting screenshots in Bigscreen-O-Vision. The wave of tomorrow!

The Legend of Zelda Retrospective
A while back I gathered up some friends to reflect on the Zelda series. This means a smorgasbord of guest writers for a smorgasboard of great games. Join us for this trip down memory lane as we look at what is arguably the greatest game series of all time.
Big shout-out and thank you to all of the contributors.

The Super Mario Retrospective
Today myself and a group of friends and fellow writers are going to take a retrospective look at what may be the most influential game series of all time: Mario. We'll be writing about our memories of these games and what they brought to the gaming world. Mario Party not included. Punch and pie.

Zelda II: Adventure of Link, Part 3 - Shadows
Previously on AMC's The Adventure of Link...
Our hero fought Not-Agahnim and rescued young Damien from the clutches
of Maze Island. Now, in the final chapter, Link must face... Link?

Zelda II: Adventure of Link, Part 2 - Hammer to Fall
Holy Crusader Link sets sail for more palaces. I'm surprised Nintendo allowed a religious symbol into these games considering they're the same company that censored "Holy" to be "White" and "Pearl" in some of the Final Fantasy titles.

Zelda II: Adventure of Link (NES, 1988)
Time to cover a Zelda game that I sorta skipped over before. If I don't cover it, it'll bother me, so here we go. This one suffers from the same thing that Castlevania 2, Dragon Quest 2, and Final Fantasy 2 on the NES suffered from: It reinvents something that was working fine before, to mixed results at best.

Metroid Fusion #2 - Space Madness
This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for Samus arching her back while wearing a micro-outfit.
...What? I'm a dude.

Metroid Fusion (Game Boy Advance, 2002)
Metroid Fusion is chronologically the final part of the Metroid series. It's also effectively the end of the Metroid series as a 2D entity. It's a pretty huge game story-wise, with a lot of ground to cover, so I'll be breaking it into multiple parts rather than doing one Super-style megapost.

Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy, 1992)
Kirby's Dream Land was the first game I ever owned, and as a result it has a special place in my memory. I can still remember perusing game shelves for my first game and choosing Kirby mainly based on the colorful, eye-catching box art.
I'd have certainly gone with Mario, but the store didn't have either of the Mario Land games that existed at the time. It's probably for the best; this is one of the easiest games I've ever played, making it perfect as a first game. It's a short (15 minutes or so if you're familiar with it), unassuming game, but little did anyone know that it would spawn a whole series of Kirby games that would catapult the "tough cream puff" into the pantheon of legendary Nintendo characters.

Nintendo Power, Volume 27 (August 1991)
It's August 1991. The Super NES is on the way. What's Dr. Wily doing in that mech? Getting revenge, that's what.

Nintendo Power, Volume 52 (September 1993)
Today I'm going to be looking at a magical relic from September 1993: Issue 52 of Nintendo Power (RIP). I just picked up a used copy on Amazon, so I'm reading it for the first time.
This was nearly the first issue of Nintendo Power that I had as a kid; I subscribed in August, but it didn't get processed in time to get this issue. Instead, the first one I got was the fairly underwhelming October issue. That issue still blew my mind at the time, but I can only imagine the level of mind-blowing that would have occurred had THIS issue been my first. I was an absolute Mario fanatic.
