Highlander: The Series 3x17 - Take Back the Night

This is a pretty good episode that feels like it should be a part of a larger storyline. Yet another episode that introduces some cool one-off characters and ideas that could have been a lot more, but so it goes. CAUTION: Contains no Methos. Not sure when he'll be back. 

Highlander: The Series 3x16 - Methos

This is it, the long-awaited debut of Methos, the 5000 year old immortal who has seen it all. He's a mainstay for the second half of this show. Originally he was supposed to be a one-off character. That is, until Peter Wingfield played the role so well that the showrunners decided not to kill him off at the end of the episode. It was a good call, because after this episode the audience was super into Methos and it wasn't long before they brought him back as a series regular due to popular demand.

Highlander: The Series 3x15 - Star-Crossed

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire show, as Fitzcairn returns for more shenanigans. Fitz is, of course, played by Roger Daltrey of The Who. Or as the kids of 2019 know them: "The who? Are they on Tik Tok?" 

Highlander: The Series 3x14 - Song of the Executioner

This episode is the beginning of a five-part arc and sorta the beginning of the second half of the series. From here on out the series really hits its stride. I think at this point the creators realized they still hadn't topped Band of Brothers from Season 1, so they...made another Band of Brothers with this episode. If that S1 episode is where the series showed what it could be if it reached its potential, this episode is where the series really starts reaching said potential.

What's the one thing that could have improved Band of Brothers? If it were a multi-parter, because wrapping up that entire story in one episode felt a bit rushed. As a result, this episode begins a new multi-parter that sends Duncan to Paris and introduces a new ancient mentor character, much like Darius was supposed to be. He might be kinda cool, we'll see.

Highlander: The Series 3x13 - Blind Faith

Today on Highlander! A quick and surprisingly cerebral episode that doesn't fit any of the usual episode molds.

Highlander: The Series 3x12 - They Also Serve

Today on Highlander: Duncan learns Kung-Fu. Whoa.

Highlander: The Series 3x11 - Vendetta

 A fairly average episode and an uncharacteristic dip in S3's momentum, even if the cover-lady has beautiful lips. Keep in mind that Anne is on the cover of like NO EPISODES.

Honestly, I feel like Anne would only make it onto one if she died in that episode. Which I don't think ever happens, but my point stands.

Highlander: The Series 3x10 - Blackmail

This episode is really good, better than expectations based off the Season One-ish title. It features possibly the best swordfight in the series up to this point. The villain, seen here, is played by Anthony DeLongis, the sword trainer for the show and a legit master swordfighter. He's the one who teaches guest stars what they're doing. He's also so charismatic that they made him the villain in not one, but two episodes. The other is way later and he's a different character, but still.

Highlander: The Series 3x09 - Shadows

This is one of the weirder episodes. In this one, Duncan discovers the horror of insomnia.

Highlander: The Series 3x08 - Obsession

Richie gets to be on the title screen of this one. Go Richie!

It's the debut of Young Kenneth, the series' most wee immortal.

Highlander: The Series 3x06 - Courage

This is the best episode so far in S3. I mean, somebody got to write this episode and knocked it out of the damn park.

In this episode, we learn that The Heart-Break Dunc! Lays down! FOR NOBODY!

Highlander: The Series 3x04 - The Cross of St. Antoine

Today on Highlandah: Joe's Bar, Amanda returns, the guy from Blade Runner gets psycho, and other stuff happens. It isn't really a good standalone episode, but it's very eventful from an "overarching events" perspective and sets up the rest of the season nicely.

Highlander: The Series 3x03 - The Revolutionary

Today on Highlander: It's Charlie's last episode for a while, as we deal with something that would be relevant today...or any decade: Armed Insurrections. It'll be a blast!

Highlander: The Series 3x02 - Line of Fire

 Oh boy. This is gonna be one of those episodes.

Highlander: The Series 3x01 - The Samurai

Highlander returns~! with the first episode I've covered in like ten years. In this, our hero travels to the Land of the Rising Sun. Given that it's been years since I watched the show, I was a little worried that it might not age that well. The good news is, there's nothing to worry about in that department because it's as watchable as ever. And this is probably the best season. Let's do this.

While the previous episode was quite good, THIS one takes the prize for best episode in Season 2.
